This New and Expectant Mothers training course provides awareness on how to adapt the workplace or job roles for expectant mothers to protect the health of themselves and their unborn baby. Up to half of the workforce will likely go through an experience of pregnancy. Therefore, it is essential that employers do not discriminate against their staff and put the safety of their employee at the forefront of the business due to the potential risks that can occur to the mother or unborn child.
The employer holds the legal duty to ensure their workers remain safe. One duty includes providing a thorough risk assessment, which should address potential risks or hazards to the expectant mother and put control measures in place.
Mothers returning to work from maternity for up to the first six months should also be provided with support and consideration from their employer. Mental and physical health should be supported by the employer, with an element of compassion and understanding.
This online course has been designed to help expectant mothers or those who have given birth in the last six months to understand the health and safety policies and processes that should be in place in their place of work.
