Course Aim

The aim of this awareness course on slips, trips, and falls is to educate employees about the potential risks and hazards in the workplace, with the goal of creating a safer working environment.

Learners will become familiar with the incidents that can cause harm to themselves or others. For those looking to dive deeper, an in-depth undertanding Slips, Trips and Falls course is also available to further enhance knowledge and prevention strategies.


Learning Objectives

On completion of the course, you should be able to:

  • Give some recent RIDDOR accident statistics for slips, trips and falls
  • List the main Regulations relevant to workplace safety
  • Identify what legal ‘punishments’ the HSE can enforce
  • Recognise the 5 steps of a risk assessment
  • Identify the responsibilities of everyone in the workplace

Training Course Content

This course is made up of the following modules:

  • An Introduction to awareness cours fpr Slips, Trips and Falls

    This section covers an introduction to slips, trips and falls, Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences (RIDDOR) along with statistics for slips, trips and falls and when and what should be recorded.

  • Module 1 - Workplace Regulations

    This section covers what regulations cover workplaces with regards to safety including, The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992, The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and the Working at Height Regulations 2005 (amended 2007).

  • Module 2 - Risk Assessments

    This section covers hazards and risk definitions, what the HSE advise as the 5 steps that should be carried out when completing a Risk Assessment. The module then explores who constitutes the role of ‘competent person’ and the responsibilities of workers and managers/supervisors.

  • Module 3 - Slips, Trips and Falls / Using ladders

    This final section covers what would constitute a slip, trip or fall and potential reasons for their occurrence. Moving on we will then look at the safe use of ladders and stepladders whilst working at height.


Assessment

On completion of the course lessons and training material an online assessment will automatically unlock. The assessment will contain 15 multiple-choice questions and a mark of 75% or above will be required to pass.

The assessment will be marked instantly and so you will know straight away if you have passed or not. If you don't pass first time there's no need to worry. Unlimited resits at absolutely no additional charge are available so you can retake the assessment again as many times as you need to.
